TEA Party hosting informational meeting

BURLEY – There will be a Mini-Cassia Community meeting on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the King Fine Arts Center Little Theater.

A representative from the National State Rights Coalition will be speaking on repealing the 17th Amendment.

There will also be a question and answer period with local senators and representatives.

Mini-Cassia retired educators to meet

HEYBURN – The Mini-Cassia Retired Educators will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Connor’s Café in Heyburn..

The special speaker will be Christine Handy, who will talk about her years as a dancer and dance instructor, in her own studio and as director of Handy Hustlers and Rocky Mountain Express.

Having visited many states in the U.S., and countries in Europe, Asia and South America, Handy will share how dancing improves life physically and how visiting other countries improves one’s life educationally.

All retired educators and anyone interested are invited to attend. There will be a short business meeting afterward.

 

Coin Club meets

PAUL – Empty Pockets Coin & Currency Club meeting Wednesday, February 15, at 7:30 pm, at the Paul City Hall Community Room 152S  600W.  Members and visitors are asked to bring their nickel collections for show and tell.  For information call 678-3938.

Nickels have been minted by the US Mint since 1866.  Nickels are composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel.  The Jefferson Nickel currently in use has been produced since 1938.  The most valuable nickel is a 1913 Liberty Head Nickel worth over a million dollars.

 

4-H Food Booth Manager Needed

RUPERT – The Minidoka County 4-H Leader’s Association is seeking someone to run the 4-H Food Booth at the Minidoka County Fair.

This is a paid position through the 4-H Leader’s Association.

Pomerelle Big Trick Competition

ALBION – Pomerelle Ski Resort is holding its Big Trick Competition Day on Saturday, Feb. 11. Open to Skiers and Boarders 13 years and older.      The competition will be on Colt 45 slope, with three runs on two table tops.

Scoring will be  based on amplitude (height), style and difficulty of trick. Inverted Aerials are Not Allowed and Helmets are Required.

Registration will be held from 9-11 a.m. in the lodge. Competition starts at 12 p.m. (noon)!

Cost is $15 Registration Fee + PLUS a…$10 Bib Fee that will be REFUNDED when the bib is returned.       Release waiver must be signed by parents for participants under 18 years of age.

Snake River Photo Club meets

DECLO – The First Get Together of the informal Snake River Photo Club is being held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the home of Warren Yadon, on the river – at 206 North 840 East, Declo.

The group is planning a BBQ Pot Luck, some brainstorming and a photo workshop at Yadon’s river home, beginning at 2 p.m.

Everyone who loves photography is welcome to attend! Pros and Non Pros!

The event has been left open for anyone who wants to come. They will focus on sharing and learning and encouraging each other to improve of love of photography.

If you can attend, please let Warren Yadon, Loren Jackson, or Amanda Dilworth know so we can know how much to cook.

Bring your camera, tripod, a salad, dessert or chips, something to dinrk and an extra chair.

Loren and Warren will take care of the burgers, brats and buns. Party starts at  2 p.m. They will move from photos to food at 3 p.m., then visiting socializing and shooting.

Sweetheart Dinner

RUPERT – Bring your sweetheart to a roast beef Valentine Dinner at The Minidoka County Senior Center on Saturday, February 11, 2012  at 6:00 p.m. The center is located at 702 11th Street in Rupert.  Tickets are $10.00 each and can be purchased from any board member or at the center.  Seating is limited and tickets will not be sold at the door.  Several items will be available for raffle.
