Lori’s ‘CAN’dy Caramels

(Use condensed milk can to measure sugar, and syrup)

Put 2 squares butter in heavy pan. Add 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1 can white sugar, 1 can brown sugar, 1 can white corn syrup. Cook to soft ball stage (Test: mix forms a soft ball that holds its shape when dropped into cold water, then is rolled between fingers). Add vanilla and nuts, if desired.

Pour into buttered pan to cool. Cut into squares and wrap. (If you add walnuts it makes it similar to the
old-time Walnettos).
