Welcome!
That’s how you will feel if you visit the city of Malta, Idaho. We are located approximately 35 miles south of Burley. We are a small community of about 171 people. Our city is 3 miles in diameter, but we consider all of our neighbors (Elba, Sublett, and Almo) a part of our community.
We have two schools here, an elementary and a Jr.High/High school. As part of our city, we have a restaurant, two gas stations, a grocery store, a motel, an electric company, two feedlots, a mink farm, a tire repair shop, a wedding/flower shop, and a feed store. We also have a volunteer fire department and ambulance service.
Since we are a rural community, many of our citizens are ranchers and farmers.
Some of the activities that take place in our city are our annual Fourth of July program and fireworks, a 5-k Fun Run, and Homecoming celebration. Often many of those who have moved away from our community return to join in these celebrations.
We are a close-knit community where many of the citizens help each other. It’s a place where neighbors still wave to each other, and greet each other with a smile. I feel honored to live in such a community as Malta.
