RUPERT – The Minidoka County Extension office has announced a number of scholarships which are available to graduating seniors that have been involved in 4-H programs.
The Idaho Friends of 4-H are offering eight $1,000 scholarship to assist 4-H members with post-high school education in Idaho.
Six scholarships will be offered for first-year students at Idaho universities, colleges or technology and trade schools.
Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 20 having been a 4-H member for four years, with at least two of those years during high school.
Two scholarships will be offered for upperclassmen. Applicant for these must be enrolled in an Idaho university, college or trade and technical school and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must have been a 4-H member for at least four years with two of those years during high school.
This application is available on the Idaho 4-H website page <http://www.uidaho.edu/extension/4h> or can be picked up at an extension office. Applications are due in the State 4-H office by February 15, 2012.
The Ruth Shane Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 college scholarship available to any Idaho graduating senior who has been in 4-H at least four years and is currently enrolled. Applicant must attend the University of Idaho and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Primary consideration will go to applicant based on their Family and Consumer Sciences project achievement and leadership experience in 4-H and their community.
To apply, complete the Idaho Friends of 4-H Scholarship application #91808 available from the State 4-H website or from the Minidoka County Extension office. Applications are due in state office by Feb. 15, 2012.
The Johannesen Leadership Scholarship, a $1,000 college scholarship is available to graduating Idaho 4-H members who have been in 4-H at least four years.
Overall leadership and 4-H achievement shall be the primary consideration. Community involvement, academic achievement and financial need are secondary considerations. Applicants must have a high school GPA of 2.8 or higher. Preference will be given to students attending the University of Idaho.
Erling Johannesen began his career as Gem County Extension Agent in 1944. He graduated from the University of Idaho College of Agriculture. For 37 years, he inspired 4-H youth to aspire to higher levels of leadership within their club community and country.

The Lillian Jeanette Craig Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 college scholarship available to a graduating high school senior, or someone currently enrolled in an institution of higher education, who has been involved in 4-H in Idaho and is a childhood cancer survivor, or the sibling of someone who has had childhood cancer. If a sibling, the applicant must have lived in the same household and been between the ages of 4-18 when the sibling was diagnosed and treated.
The scholarship may be used at any college, university or vocational institution. Preference will be given to applicants attending an institution of higher education in Idaho.

The Idaho Irrigation Equipment Association has organized a scholarship program to assist students destined for water utilization-related fields.
Anyone interested in any aspect of the irrigation industry should apply. Students interested in Turf Landscape/Irrigation Architecture & Design are encouraged to apply as well. All graduating high school seniors and all current college students are eligible.

The Minidoka County Grain Producers Association is offering a scholarship to a Minidoka County High School senior who is planning a career in agriculture, either vocational or academic.
The scholarship is based on need, achievement record, personal qualifications, and other leadership activities. The scholarship winner will be announced at the annual awards assembly of the Minidoka County High School in May.
The scholarship money will be available at the beginning of the recipient’s second semester of his/her freshman year, providing that the recipient has maintained a minimum of 12 credits during the first semester.
The applications will be available through the Vo-Ag, the office at Minico High School, and the Minidoka County Extension office. All applications are due to the Minidoka Extension office by April 15, 2012. For more information, call 436-7184.
