Deborah Henson-Conant entertains with her show-stopping talent on the electric harp.

NASHVILLE, Tenn  – GRAMMY® nominated harpist Deborah Henson-Conant, creator of the electric harness-harp and the re-invention of this venerable instrument, will share her genre-defying program at the King Fine Arts Center at Burley High School (2100 Park Avenue, Burley, Idaho) on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.  at the February Community Concert.

Doors are open at 7 p.m. with open seating only.  Season memberships for Mini-Cassia Community Concert Association’s two remaining concerts are $40/adult, $20/student and $110/family.  Single tickets for the event are $20.  For more information, please call 208-678-1798.

Deborah Henson-Conant has no problem defying definition — NPR’s Scott Simon called her “the talented love-child of André Previn and Lucille Ball” – blurring the line between music and theatre.                  Every concert is a kaleidoscope of blues, Latin, flamenco, jazz and Celtic music.  A virtuosic musician, her performance history is replete with feature performances for orchestras and festivals worldwide, including a national tour with the Boston Pops in a premiere of her own composition.

Ever the actress, Henson-Conant is also a consummate storyteller and comedian.  Sharing the spotlight in her solo performances is her custom designed electric harness-harp, otherwise known as the “hip-harp.”

Henson-Conant has been featured on the PBS special “Harpestry,” “CBS Sunday Morning,” NBC’s “The Today Show,” as well as the Food Network and NPR.  Her DVD/CD project “Invention and Alchemy is GRAMMY® nominated and has aired nationwide on PBS.

The Mini-Cassia Community Concert Association has been presenting nationally acclaimed artists to the community since 1946.  The all-volunteer non-profit board is committed to enriching the cultural life of the Burley community through live performances.  Thanks to the generosity of Patrons and Sponsors, these concerts can be offered at affordable, family friendly prices.
