DECLO – Declo native son, Jack Rose, recently released his third book, Fly Paper.

His first two books, The Cedar Post and Tears of Joy have sold thousands of copies across America. The same genuine characters, and scenes that Mini-Cassians will know and love, are part of all these books.

Fly Paper picks up the story after Tears of Joy with the setting beginning in Heber City, Utah in 1974. New colorful characters readers will either love or hate blend into the story. One character, Jake, a Heber City police officer  takes his family and runs for their lives after finding themselves in an impossible and corrupt tangle. Eventually Jake and his family meet Jon, Ur and the other characters of The Cedar Post and Tears of Joy on the Chet Reynolds Ranch of Oakley, Idaho. Like all of Jack’s books Fly Paper is a nail-biter, a pager-turner and an emotional roller coaster.

His first book, The Cedar Post (which takes place in Declo where Jack was born and raised by a disabled single mother after his father died when he was eight years old) has been claimed by many as “a classic” for the impact it has had on their lives. The powerful and moving story of a young farm boy (Jon) struggling to do something, anything special with his life.   Jon was mentored by an old Deaf/blind survivor of the holocaust (Ur).

Ur introduces Jon to true principles of goodness and success that change his life.  Most readers have felt a real connection to The Cedar Post and have recommended and passed it around to many friends and relatives. It has been popular with many book clubs across America. The Cedar Post has been used as an American literature text in several high schools and colleges.  The Cedar Post has especially been successful in programs where youth are trying to find themselves.
