TWIN FALLS – A high-speed chase through Twin Falls County was the precursor to a puzzling murder Sunday.
After a futile effort to stop a brown Ford Taurus in the county near Hansen on Sunday, police ended their chase. The sheriff’s office was notified shortly before noon Sunday that an accident had occurred at the top of the Twin Falls Park grade, four miles east of the city on the canyon rim.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man, identified as Seanachan J. Azure, 31, lying dead in the roadway, in front of the car they had earlier pursued. He had gunshots to his head, mouth and torso. Sitting inside the was a man identified as Damon Wayne Azure, 32, of Rupert. He refused to exit the car and had to be taken into custody by a team of police officers.
Azure was charged with the murder of Seanachan Azure, after officers found guns and ammunition in Damon Azure’s vehicle. He also faces a charge of resisting an officer, after police had to ram his vehicle to stop him from an attempt to leave the scene Sunday and use a stun gun to help subdue him.
The suspect was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, but the arraignment had to be postponed because Damon Azure refused to cooperate with jail officials or a public defender. Officials at Twin Falls County Detention Center said they had not even been able to obtain a mug shot of the suspect. His arraignment was postponed again on Tuesday and is scheduled to be held Thursday, Feb. 16.
Pictures of both the suspect and his brother, the victim, were obtained through the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice System. Both have been involved in legal proceedings in this area, including drug, burglary, battery, domestic violence and other charges.
