Billie spent most of her adult working life in the potato industry working in the quality laboratories for
several different food processors. Although for a while she worked in the lunchroom at the Declo High
School and caught up on all of the activities of her children as well as all of the neighbor kids. Billie was
an “Avon Lady” for many years in the Declo area. Billie was a member of the Paul Methodist Church.
Billie was known for her ability to produce heirloom quilts. She was a quilter for more than 50 years.
She, her sisters and daughters spent many adventurous weekends attending craft shows in Idaho, Utah
and Nevada. Billie produced hand-made quilts, crocheted dish towels and other craft items which were
sold at the various craft shows and fairs she attended. Billie especially liked attending craft shows in and
around casinos with slot machines. She had an uncanny ability to get the slots to produce for her. She
would then invest her winnings in her grandchildren by buying them gifts and treats. There are a great
number of family stories by grandchildren that begin, “remember when we are at the craft show with
grandma” followed by a great tale of adventure and a good deal of laughter.
Survivors: Billie is survived by her children: Ray Arguello and his wife Karen (Eagle, Idaho); Darla
Gorringe and her husband Fred (Caldwell, Idaho) and Gary Arguello (Declo). She is survived by 3 sisters
and one brother, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, one brother and a daughter and a son-in-law.
