To those who attended the BHS reunion last summer:
After a long delay the DVD containing the photos taken during the reunion is now being put together. We are sorry about the wait but both myself and Clyde Brinegar have had some serious family issues which have kept us from working on it. (Please accept our profuse apologies for the delay.) However, before we complete the DVD, I am asking for your help. If you have any personal photos of the reunion which you would like to have included, please email them to me at: rvalens2@gmail.com.
For your information, emails sent via Gmail can be no larger than 25 megabytes in size. So, if you have more than three or four high quality images (over 8 megabytes), you will have to either email them to me in installments, reduce them in size or mail them to me on a CD or DVD at this address: Richard Saldana, 417 Tami Drive, Burley, ID 83318
One other thing, If you happen to have any other photos you think would be of interest to your classmates, please send them along as well.
I am also interested in receiving copies of any grade school or junior high school class pictures taken while you were attending any of the Burley schools. Many classmates have lost or damaged theirs and I would like to make them available via the Burley Fans website. A high quality scan or digital photograph is preferred.
I will need to receive any photos you wish to have included on the Reunion DVD, on or before March 3, 2012, as the DVDs are scheduled to be completed and mailed some time in March.
Thanks,
Richard Saldana

Great Community Concert presented
(Recently) there was another great performance at King Fine Arts Center in Burley.
We are fortunate to have such a beautiful facility and also to have professional artists arrive throughout the year to entertain and educate us.
Deborah Henson-Conant burst onstage wearing an electric harness-harp which she played with verve and skill. Her program was varied, with humor sprinkled throughout, along with a truly magnificent voice and of course the harp accompanying all of it. The instrument is a custom-built 32-string electric harp, which she demonstrated earlier that day for students from Minico and Burley high schools.
She has been featured on several TV shows and appeared with many famous artists, and I was captivated by her performance.
We are so lucky to have the Mini-Cassia Community Concerts Association to bring these exciting shows to us over the year.

Open Letter to Burley City Council
Burley is not a rich city. It appears to me that the Mayor, some member of the city council and the city manager have an agenda to waste money that we don’t have on an airport we don’t need.
Already thousands of dollars have been spent on studies and consultants.
We are paying for a sewer treatment plant (that smells very bad). We are paying $27.50 every month and we are being asked for an open-ended blank check to give to the Mayor, City Council and the City Manager.
If the airport is only $2 million, that is $20,000 for every man, woman and children in Burley that you want to pay for it and it will benefit less than four percent of the Burley population.
Why do you, City Council, think that Burley has to pay for an airport by itself when it will not benefit the citizens of Burley? We are an agricultural area, not an industrial magnet. If a new airport is needed have the users put it in.
It has been suggested that our airport is not safe. It is a good argument, but it is not true. If it were true, the FAA would shut it down. That may be a good thing.
When Rupert, Paul, Heyburn, Albion, Oakley, Malta, Declo and Minidoka agree to help pay for it, then I may rethink my position. IF the City Council really cares for the city, they will ask for a vote and see if Burley residents want a new airport.
Respectfully,
Carl Clark

Mr. Clark,
You have a lot of valid points with the exception of your math, there is more than 100 people in Burley. If you figure it at 10,000 it is $200 per person, which is still to much. Some of what you brought up was some points I had brought up before. Make Love’s, DOT foods the people that want us to build a new airport fund it themselves or at least pay for some of it. If they are so set on the new airport, there is land for sale signs by the motel along the freeway coming into Burley.
